Rona Navera (née Magno) was born and raised in the Catholic tradition in the Philippines, in an era before the internet was part of everyday life. She preferred the quiet world of books to fuel her imagination. Yet her life was far from solitary; it was enriched by deep friendships, shared adventures, and an abiding belief in God. This blend of faith, connection, and quiet reflection led her to contribute to community and college newspapers in English, and create storylines and scripts for comics in Filipino – early, uncredited work that honed her narrative style and shaped her voice. Her career later stirred her writing toward a technical style, focused more on clarity and function, than the literary storytelling of her earlier years.
Her journey later brought her to Philadelphia and to her husband. In September 2012, their shared path took a profound turn with a spiritual renewal as both became born-again Christians. She draws on her strengthened faith to write a blog post titled Personal Crossings where she shares reflections of her encounters with people in the hope of encouraging others in their journey to seek God who orchestrates such moments.
She is completing her first novel, grounded on her knowledge of the Scriptures, that explores the themes of courage and changed heart that unfolds within God’s redemptive work.
